This reasonably intact riparian buffer could be enhanced by the addition of under story vegetation. A steep slope and open ground still creates a vehicle for overland flow of storm water that may contain chemicals from an enriched lawn at the top of the slope.

This attractive riparian buffer could be enhanced with the addition of shrubs that would leave the river view intact but ensure that nutrient rich storm water from the adjacent lawn would not make it into the Connecticut River.

A wider vegetated strip at the base of this sloping lawn would help ensure that water quality is protected.
